A little more than a month into 2017, I find myself particularly energised by the dialogue generated through Jinfo's "State of the industry" Community sessions with customers in London, Chicago, Washington and online.
During these sessions, I present and facilitate discussion on the fundamental concerns that affect information strategy and value in nearly every organisation:
- Does our information team have the right skills?
- Which partnerships (internal and external) do we need to cultivate?
- What is the highest value of our expertise to the business and how do we focus our efforts there, rather than on the many transactional requests we could be processing?
The most recent session in London brought together 18 senior-level peers, from both buying and selling organisations, for two hours of lively discussion. There is no greater testimonial of value than the willingness to give up part of a busy week to participate in this kind of discussion.
Due to requests, we've now scheduled the same session in New York, and have emerging plans for Atlanta and Boston. Insights gleaned through these sessions will appear in Jinfo articles and inform our research going forward.
The smartest thinking and most practical solutions come from frank discussion with your peers. If you do not yet have Community access, consider adding it today.
