While working with our clients on searches and newsletters, we come across a variety of interesting and important publications across industries. During the past year, disruptive changes posed by electric vehicles, autonomous and connected cars became relevant for many organisations, even outside the automotive industry (e.g. legal, technology...). Below are some of the sources we found to be valuable:

  • Transport Topics: A solid, deep industry publication focused on heavy transport and trucking. Good coverage of trends as well as specific events and virtually all articles do not require a subscription to access.
  • Green Fleet Magazine: The site provides coverage of all kinds of vehicles using alternative fuel types - fully electric, hybrid, hydrogen, etc. Access is free, and the site provides short news updates as well as analytical articles.
  • Just-Auto.com: The publication provides excellent coverage of all sides of the industry - OEMs, suppliers, and consumer trends across the globe. The site is well organised, and there is a large number of quality analytical pieces and data reports in addition to news content. Most of the content is behind a paywall - there is a 2-tier subscription model.
  • IHS Automotive Research and Analysis Blog: The blog provides quality analysis of the latest events and trends around self-driving cars. It's part of the deep automotive coverage provided by IHS Markit, but does not require a subscription.

For fun:

  • The Truth About Cars: Sticking with cars, this site provides a nice break from the "formal" automotive content. The editorial team of car enthusiasts provides their take on news stories, industry trends, and candid car reviews. The discussion continues in the highly active comments section.

An article in Jinfo which I found particularly interesting:

  • As you might expect of someone heading up current awareness solution InfoNgen, my favourite article so far is "Jinfo current awareness survey 2017", which provides a good overview of products being used across the world, from the well-known premium products to smaller, niche offerings.
