I am passionate about the way people learn, share and use knowledge together, be it for professional, personal or societal reasons. I am a knowledge management (KM) consultant, organiser of the event "Social Now Europe", responsible for a platform on the use of social tools for civic participation, and author of a biannual study on KM in Portugal and Spain. Here are some of the sites and tools I cannot go without:
-
Flipboard: Every morning I open Flipboard on my mobile to get a sense of what is being said in the media and in the blogosphere on my favourite topics.
-
Sphere: This is a community about knowledge sharing and social business. Although it is not a very active one, I do appreciate the summary of activity which is emailed to me every week. It usually contains links and reviews of really interesting sites and reports.
-
51/71-com on Diigo: This is a library of carefully selected and summarised links to news items and posts about IT trends, internet safety and the information society. The selection is made by a public sector organisation for its staff but it is shared with the public through Diigo. (It is in Portuguese.)
For fun:
-
Sketchplanations: Jono Hey uses sketches to explain "one thing a week". Things can be the difference between turtles and tortoises, the prisoner's dilemma, the "components" of the Union Jack, etc. Although I mention this as a fun resource, the truth is I've learned quite a few things and I've already used a "sketchplanation" in a presentation.
An article in Jinfo which I found particularly interesting:
-
"The hidden benefits of collaborating well with colleagues" authored by Virginia Henry talks about how collaboration shapes and is shaped by technology, management trends, office layout, etc. It is also a useful reminder of the people dynamics in collaborative working and the benefits of collaboration.
