Abstract
Continuing our Research Focus, "Source Expertise - What It Means in a Google World", we've published articles and product reviews looking at research skills in a fast-changing landscape and don't miss our upcoming webinars and Community sessions.
Item
Our current Research Focus, "Source Expertise - What It Means in a Google World", examines research skills in a fast-changing landscape and our most recently published articles and blogs include:
- In "Being an Industry Specialist in a Global Management Consultancy", Carole Schwalbaum, manager of the Americas Information and Research Centre at A.T. Kearney, explains what both generalist and specialist information researchers bring to the company
- Norma Beavers reflects on the recent product review in "Northern Light SinglePoint - Taking Strategic Research Further".
Other articles, reports and reviews published since our last update include:
- A Mini Review of Figshare, in light of a future where researchers will increasingly have to make all of their data publicly available, Jinfo takes a look at this online digital repository that allows users to upload and share, for free, their research outputs
- A Mini Review of CB Insights for Sales where Michael Levy explores how this new product could make a good complement to traditional sales intelligence solutions
- Steve Byngall looks at Slack, a collaboration tool which has achieved extraordinary growth, largely bypassing central enterprise collaboration teams, in his article "Supporting Enterprise Collaboration in a World Obsessed With Slack". Steve asks what this means for the ways we should support users from the centre and outlines a number of support tactics
- "Market Landscape - Patent Products", a report covering nine products offering patent information from vendors including Innography, Thomson Reuters and Wisdomain.
Forthcoming webinars:
- On 30th June we're running "Why We Keep Talking About The News", where we'll be reflecting on why current awareness remains such an opaque topic for so many
- On 19th July we'll be looking at content platforms and how they perform in real-life in "The State of the Industry for Content Platforms".

Consulting
We recently reviewed Jinfo Consulting projects over the past few months and identified a common denominator in the way we have been able to deliver value:
Each of the information departments we worked with turned to Jinfo to support their ability to navigate organisational change, such as:
- Reorganisation, resulting in information services being moved to a different part of the business
- New leadership, causing upheaval in stakeholder relationships
- Re-defined corporate strategy, offering the opportunity for information services to exert new influence and build stronger internal partnerships.
If your organisation is undergoing change, we can help. Our approach is practical and cost-efficient. You don't need a Jinfo Subscription to get started with Consulting.
Learn more about Jinfo Consulting services, and then contact us.
We publish research-based insights, facilitate peer-to-peer discussions on them, and offer consulting services to tailor those insights to your needs. Find the right Jinfo Subscription level to meet your needs.
