Abstract
How can information experts take on a role that's more strategic than "search" within their organisations? Co-producer of the Research Focus "Source Expertise - What It Means in a Google World", Anja Chemnitz Thygesen introduces the articles and product reviews published so far and gives a taste of what's to come.

An exciting new Research Focus has just started: "Source Expertise - What It Means in a Google World" - and I'm certain that you will find the articles in the coming months very interesting. From what I hear from users and the authors of some of the articles for the Focus, this topic is constantly causing concern but also presenting some great opportunities if you manage the challenges in your own favour.
We have already published a number of items:
- An in-depth Product Review of Web of Science and a thorough look at discovery service ProQuest Summon
- We've also published a Q&A with EBSCO which, amongst other things, covers potential technological challenges and trends that are likely to impact their services over the coming years
Watch out for the webinars that are coming up and book your place to reserve your seat:
- 24th May: "Balancing 'Generalist' and 'Specialist' Expertise" will be about the balance between being a generalist and specialising in a specific industry. This has been a recurring topic in the teams I have worked with through my entire work life and is even more relevant today than ever.
- 21st June: "Three Ways to Influence Strategy with Source Expertise" will deal with the importance of supplying your knowledge and supporting the company at strategic level by providing useful insights.
