Content (Articles, Reports, Webinars)
We're over half way through our current Research Focus, "Strategic Alignment of Information Services and IT", and continue to publish plenty of perceptive articles and reviews around relations between information services and information technology.
- "Making Sense of the Digital Workplace" recaps some of the highlights of a recent Jinfo Webinar, "IS and IT Make Sense of the 'Digital Workplace'"
- In "Where Does Information Services Sit in Your Organisation? And Why Does it Matter?", Shimrit Janes reports from a recent Jinfo Community session "Make the Most of Your Organisation's Reporting Structure"
- Robin Neidorf offers some useful tips on how to find common goals and work together with IT in "All the Ways We Can Misunderstand IT Colleagues"
- A recent Jinfo Community session looked at how to move towards greater alignment between IT and IS and an article, "The Role of Research in Realigning Your Relationship With IT", reports on this
- To accompany this article, there is also a useful table available in "Model - Understanding IT Characteristics", which helps you identify what actions you can take to help reroute your interactions with IT, in order to move towards a better working relationship
- Tim Barlow looks at "mission creep" in "When Do Information Services Projects Belong on the IT Side?" and discusses where the border should be drawn between the work of the IS and IT teams.
Other articles and reports recently published include:
- Product Review of PrivCo
- Product Review of LexisNexis Newsdesk (Introduction)
- Insider Knowledge - Researching South Africa (Domestic Sources)

Consulting
Jinfo works with vendors of information products and services to help them understand the changing market, identify emerging opportunities, and gain perspective on how customers and prospective customers perceive them.
We're currently working with Springer to understand how ebooks fit into corporate content strategies in targeted industries. Through interviews first with information professionals and then with selected end users, we are establishing a picture of the role of ebooks alongside journals.
Springer will use the results for internal product strategy and planning as well as for marketing and customer education.
Learn about other Consulting projects and services.
Our Content is the broad platform through which we publish research-based insights. Community provides the environment to discuss them with peers. Consulting tailors the insight to your needs. Find the right Jinfo Subscription level to meet your needs.
