One of my favourite projects of the year has just kicked off: FreePint's annual Survey of News Needs and Preferences. Complete the survey now »
Since 2008, we have conducted this survey each autumn to gather input from information managers about their organisations' changing needs. We've tracked such trends as the increasing importance of mobile content and continuing tensions between investing in premium tools against rising use of no-cost resources.
Because we ask the same questions in the same way each year, we are able to make year-to-year comparisons and demonstrate what's consistent and what's changing in this highly competitive category of the industry.
At the same time, we add or remove questions, based on shifting priorities. This year's changes include:
- Primary focus on the current awareness need
- Increase of interest in visualisation tools and text mining capabilities.
The survey takes up to 15 minutes to complete. Responses are anonymous, but if you provide an email address at the end of the survey, we will send you a copy of the resulting report upon publication in December 2015 as part of the Topic Series, "News, and Other Commodities".
Because of the complexity of the challenges and longevity of the project, the Survey on News Needs and Preferences 2015 is indeed the most time-consuming to complete. I thank you in advance for completing it, and adding your voice to our ever-growing body of knowledge.
