Item
Information managers in banking and finance are interested in Chris Porter's comprehensive review of S&P Capital IQ (subscription required), one of the leading information providers within banking and finance. As well as providing a detailed overview of all they had to offer, he also looked at how they build-in proprietary data, which can add real value to a product.
Press and news searches are a vital part of the information provided by researchers within banking and finance. Knowing the best products for your particular organisation is crucial to providing the best research service. We recently published a comparative review of seven different news products, FreePint's comprehensive "Comparative Report on News Products 2015" looked at Factiva, LexisNexis Publisher, Meltwater, Newsdesk, NewsEdge, Nexis and SinglePoint.
In a recent Communities of Practice session we offered information managers the opportunity to brainstorm and develop plans for ensuring information skills development is higher up the organisational agenda. Robin Neidorf hosted the teleconference "Getting Information Skills Development on the Strategic Agenda". We had some interesting and useful discussions around the subject as part of the Topic Series, "Best Practices in Information Skills Development" which we concluded in June.
