As an independent information professional specialising in information and knowledge management, my research can roam across a variety of industries and technologies. Here are some of my favourite business resources, plus one I use for recreation:
- PinHawk Librarian Daily Digest: With the renewed focus on law libraries in my current work, this is a must-read. The resource brings to my inbox daily briefings related to law libraries and the legal information market. In addition, it offers features on knowledge management, new information resources in all formats and provides a briefing on events and vendor press releases.
- Beyond Search remains my go-to blog for anything related to search technology. Stephen Arnold remains crisp and observant, with a talent for unveiling the unexpected. The mix of in-depth features and news briefs is essential to keeping up with what's happening in the world of search and technology.
- Social Media Explorer: Hearkening back to my service as a social media content provider, Social Media Explorer remains an essential source. This service offers insights and practical guidance on using social media for marketing and public relations.
- Erika Napoletano: For general business acumen I follow Erika Napoletano. She offers a bold perspective on business and branding that encourages one to think differently about life and business life.
- Smallwater Fishing stays on my Feedly list. It isn't updated very often but it is a useful resource for keeping me informed about fishing experiences in Kentucky. It is a great way to take a quick mental break and file away a fishing hole to try the next time I head out with my pole.
An article in FreePint which I found particularly interesting:
- Big Data Bonanza - But Only for Those With High Quality Data. In light of the growing interest in making strategic business decisions using information gleaned from big data, this article reminds readers of the importance of the need for attention to core principles related to data quality.
