Last night, during a dinner at Pier 60 in New York at the Information Industry Summit, the Software and Information Industry (SIIA) announced this year's winners of its annual CODiE Awards, which recognise excellence in the business software, digital content and education technology industries.

The judging process involves several rounds and each nominated product goes through a thorough review and evaluation process by industry experts (I've served as judge many times in the past, as has VIP's Nancy Davis Kho and FreePint's Director of Research, Robin Neidorf). The first round process is rigorous, with in-depth demos, hands on product access and detailed judging criteria. The finalists (generally 3-5 in each category) from this round are then voted on by SIIA members to select the winners.

This year saw 89 nominees across 14 categories, which were narrowed by about half for final consideration. This year's winners, listed by category, product/service and company, are:

Jackson Innovation Award honors the late Thomson Reuters' vice president and chief scientist, and his profound impact on the B2B publishing industry. Dr Jackson was an active board member of the SIIA Content Division.
