VIP kicks off another year of product reviews with a detailed look at Dun & Bradstreet's (D&B) latest offering in the United Kingdom, DNBi, available in VIP Magazine 86. DNBi is an interactive, web-based, subscription service that provides access to the 167 million businesses in the D&B Global Database. The new platform was rolled out in North America a few years ago, and only recently launched in the UK marketplace.
Subscribers to DNBi gain access to D&B Live Reports, a new and improved credit report that provides financial information, relevant third party information and company news, as well as D&B's propriety risk scores and indices. However, unlike D&B's previous report offerings, the Live Report is interactive – users can save point-in-time snapshots, and upload notes and comments. The contents of the Live Report can also be shared and viewed by all DNBi users at a single organisation, including multiple office locations.
DNBi also boasts a suite of brand new, customisable portfolio risk management tools. DNBi's folder functionality allows users to organise, archive and share information on the companies that are important to them. Next, the DNBi Dashboard provides users with an at-a-glance summary of all D&B risk indicators across entire portfolios. Finally, the News & Alerts feature enables subscribers to monitor late-breaking changes to their customers' or prospects' credit worthiness, using real-time D&B data.
Dating back to 1841, the D&B brand is one of the oldest in the information marketplace. Information professionals in public, academic and special libraries are all likely to have used D&B credit reports at some point in their careers. Hopefully, DNBi’s new shared workspace concept will allow info pros to see D&B with new eyes.
