Working on a sustainability project? Tasked with some research? Confused about where to find the latest sustainability thinking?
EBSCO’s Sustainability Watch, included in VIP Magazine Number 85, provides current, objective, high quality reports on sustainability topics. All reports are grounded in the latest research, and compiled using EBSCO’s unique methodology to ensure a balanced and objective briefing. Sources include 15,000 academic journals, business journals and trade press boiled down into digestible report from.
Sustainability Watch contains approximately 200 reports and covers 200 topics including: agriculture, carbon emissions, economic stimulus, energy and fuels, facilities, management, marketing and reporting, operations, regulatory issues and legal, transportation, waste and recycling and water.
Coverage is global although there is a strong USA bias. Non US users may want to supplement Sustainability Watch with additional sources, especially around legislation.
Content is easy to find thanks to powerful indexing and an advanced search system. Reports are ready to use in either PDF or HTML format, and can be downloaded or emailed to pull directly into a report.
While Sustainability Watch doesn’t look as slick as some products on the market, its strength lays with the quality of its content and solid indexing.
Functionality surprises include a facility to automatically translate reports between a range of languages from Arabic to Urdu; and the ability to export data into a range of bibliographic formats (XML, BibTeX, MARC21) to EndNote, ProCite, CITAVI, RefWorks and Reference Manager and RSS enablement.
RSS enablement suggests that content can be integrated into an intranet or alerting service.
Sustainability Watch provides a great starting point for anyone needing to get up to speed on a particular sustainability topic without having to understand the subject as a whole. It is a solid evidence base for an organisational business case or project, and quick and easy to use.
Sustainability Watch is one product from EBSCOs Watch series suite. Sister products include Corporate Learning Watch and Food Industry Watch. The price range is $5000 - $15,000 and applies to a single location and ranges for unlimited, corporation-wide access. EBSCO will provide bespoke estimates upon request.
