There is no doubt that mobile access to information is a massive trend going on these days. In other words, now, and even more so in the future information, ready-reference type of info, will be accessible where and when the user wants it. No longer will you have to be tethered to your desktop or even laptop to find fast-facts while you’re on the go. Simply fire up your Blackberry, iPhone or other smartphone and get the information you need. It's that easy and will become even easier in the future as more search services offer voice-activated searching (Google and Yahoo already offer it).

One mobile service from a popular business information provider that I’ve been using lately is Hoover’s Mobile which has been online since early this year.

Their motto: "Anytime. Anywhere."

Hoover's Mobile provides the user with basic but high quality data (what we’ve come to expect from Hoover's) in a simple but powerful manner. Its simplicity is one of its strongest points.
The mobile interface can be found at http://www.hoovers-mobile.com. Once you’re there, you'll see three categories which can be searched or browsed:

Company Profiles
Search profiles for over 28 million companies both public and private are in the database. Headquarters are listed as such. You'll also find basic sales numbers, competitors, web URLs, phone numbers and addresses. You can also limit your search by State and Country. It's also possible to save your favorite companies for quick access at another time.

One thing I would love to see in future releases is a search box at the bottom of each profile page. This would save a lot of time versus having to go back to the main search page when you want to do a new search.

People
Search basic information about over 36 million people from the global business community. In some cases, profiles (with information garnered from various sources including company filings) are available.

Industries
It's also possible to find companies via the industries which they are located. Simply browse your way done through the hierarchy. Over 600 industries are listed.

Overall, through its simple to use interface, Hoover's Mobile is an excellent tool for the business researcher or busy executive on the go. We look forward to future releases.
