Abstract
Searching the web for information about medical conditions can mean that you are swamped with useless, and often disconcerting, results. This is particularly true when you need help and support with a long-term health condition rather than descriptions of symptoms and treatments. The ALISS project aims to overcome this for people in Scotland by unlocking information currently in databases, lists and directories.

What's Inside:
The ALISS project was born out of the desire to make it easier to discover, share, link up and use information about living well with long-term health conditions; to find and link up information that is often locked up in databases, lists and directories. The ALISSEngine will be an index of links to the records that directory services around Scotland are already gathering – but it will be open to all, taking information out of the silos and onto the web for all to see.
