Review of the industry in 2023, and our 2024 plans

What a momentous year 2023 has been for information work – I can't believe how quickly the year has flown by.
Here at Jinfo, we're pivoting to focus solely on being the glue between the buy- and sell-side of information purchasing and provision.
We've been busy talking to vendors about their product plans, and buyers about their contracting and technology concerns.
The aim is to enable both sides to drive the most value from third-party content and related services.
To this end, we've produced some great content this year, which I encourage you to check out:
- Content portfolio needs analysis
- News and current awareness survey (and subsequent legal cut)
- Vendor management template
- Vendor negotiation checklist
- Offshoring
... and have enjoyed some really informative discussions and networking with a number of subject matter experts, including:
- Legal implications of licensing for AI systems (Jeff Monassebian, Attorney)
- Vendor deployment of GenAI (David Seuss, Northern Light)
- Pivoting a research and library team on GenAI initiatives (Sarah Fahy, Allen & Overy) - Webinar coming soon.
Since not all Jinfo subscribers can attend Community sessions live, we're now generating articles, reports, recorded webinars, and even YouTube clips following interviews and Community sessions.
Talking of AI, it has really started to enter the mainstream this year. After last week's Jinfo Community session a colleague said:
“GenAI is a fast moving river – we just have to get in and start swimming or we will be swept away”.
In early 2024 we will be publishing three interviews and product demos we've just recorded with vendors about their AI plans. We're also working on legal purchasing trends; environmental, social and governance sources (ESG); news and AI products.
Our fledgling Jinfo YouTube channel has some great content, so I ask you to please help us by subscribing there.
Thank you very much for your support in 2023. We're thrilled to have welcomed so many new subscribers this year, and our very high rate of renewals is really very rewarding to us.
The Jinfo community is a network of highly regarded and talented individuals, and we're honoured to be the glue in the middle.
With best wishes for the festive season and happy, healthy and wealthy 2024.
