Abstract

Leadership requires continuous improvement and reinvestment but is often overlooked.

It's all too easy to work on specific tasks and busy transactional work but find it hard to justify the time required to think more strategically about the information centre as a senior-level partner to other departments.

However, today's information centres now need to be staffed by information professionals with advocacy and influencing skills, project management and a good understanding of sales and marketing.

During this session, we'll hear from an information manager with a continuous-improvement focus, with suggestions for:

  • Design of team responsibilities
  • Improvements to regular team interactions (e.g. meeting framework, supervisory relationships)
  • Special events.

...all developed to embed continuous improvement in the consciousness of every member of staff.

Jinfo's director of research, Robin Neidorf, presents an overview of options, along with guidance on how to evaluate them for your own environment. It will ensure that you provide the leadership required of an information team with the right stuff.

This is the slide deck and speaker notes from the Jinfo Webinar "Can you cope with continuous reinvention?", which ran on 5th June 2018
