Abstract

Westlaw UK is one of the legal and business products in the Thomson Reuters stable. Designed for fee-earning lawyers just as much as library and information professionals, it aims to be a one-stop-shop, pulling together a number of primary and secondary legal resources UK-wide.

This review:

  • Gives a detailed description of its comprehensive coverage of primary and secondary resources including case law reports, full text journals, EU information news and Insight articles and how it encompasses consolidated UK-wide legislation.

  • Scrutinises the interface and looks at options for creating filters and alerts.

  • Examines how Westlaw UK adds value to key content groups with the use of status icons attached to case titles and legislation, and other useful tools.

  • Considers development, competitors and future plans.

  • Describes the Westlaw UK Web App, its mobile-friendly version, main competitor LexisLibrary, and plans to integrate content from Lawtel and Practical Law.

  • Examines pricing, help, customer support and training, and considers which elements could be improved.
