Beyond web-scale discovery

Jinfo recently conducted a survey to assess how corporate information professionals understand and use discovery services. In this fourth and final article about the research results, we look to supplement the survey feedback on web-scale discovery tools with responses about a wide range of content discovery systems and data analysis tools. The results show that, whilst a number of enterprise content systems are being deployed, there is truly an explosion in the number of data analysis tools being used or evaluated.

Jinfo recently conducted a survey to assess how corporate information professionals understand and use discovery services. In this third article about the research results, we look at services respondents are currently using or evaluating to meet their users’ needs for discovery. The survey results show that, despite some ambivalence about the capabilities of current technologies to fully address user needs, corporate information managers are moving forward with evaluation and deployment of web-scale delivery services.

She considers the key features and potential uses of the software by technical teams, laboratories, software and hardware manufacturers and other industries which produce technical articles and archive internal documents.
