In the first part of Jinfo's new full product review of Acquire Media's NewsEdge, a global news and delivery web platform for information and business professionals, we give some background on the company and product, including Acquire Media's acquisition earlier this year by Newscycle Solutions. We look at the product's key advantages, key users and some of the changes made since we last reviewed the product in 2014.

Developing new skills and evolving relationships

Information teams of the future will have different responsibilities and will need a whole new set of skills as a result. In a recent Jinfo webinar, guest presenter Kim Dority outlined the range of necessary new skills and compared them to an information professional's existing skill set. She presented ideas on how to develop these skills within teams and how this would make them more valued in their organisations as a result.

Jinfo discovery report (part 1 - comparing top goals for content discovery)

Jinfo has just completed a research project to explore goals for content discovery. The project was designed to explore and contrast how information centres managing STEM collections approach three key goals for content discovery as uncovered in a 2017 survey on the topic.
This article provides an overview of the survey carried out as part of the research. It reviews survey respondents demographics and compares responses to a set of questions about resource allocation and technology/solution vendors for each of the three goals.

Q&A with NERA - using Altarama RefTracker to manage information flow

Jinfo spoke to Barbara Hirsh, director of Information Resources & Knowledge Management at NERA Economic Consulting, along with two of her colleagues to find out a bit more about the group and how they use Altarama's RefTracker, a browser-based reference and enquiry management system, to manage the information flow to and from its staff. She spoke about why they started using RefTracker, how they use it along with some of the benefits it offers.
