Editorial
Here in the UK there's a nip in the air and the mornings are starting to feel distinctly autumnal.
And it's not just the season that's changing - each quarter FreePint focuses on a particular topic through original research, product reviews and articles from experts in the field.
Our current Topic Series, "All About Usage: From Content Sharing to Data Mining" provides the platform for research into authentication and single sign-on technologies and future plans, as well as research around organisations' policies for web content. We've also reviewed content management products, electronic resource and usage reporting tools, and gained insight into procurement processes and text & data mining.
Meanwhile we've been working behind the scenes with co-producers and researchers to ensure that in October the
new Topic Series "News, and Other Commodities" bursts into life.
In this series (register for updates) we'll be exploring how to apply measures of "value" to those current awareness and news services which are so easily available and interchangeable that it's tempting to see them as as basics rather than give them the attention they deserve. However, this "commodity" information is essential to many business areas, supporting information decisions from new business strategy to supporting research and development.
A change is always an exciting time to embrace new opportunities and make new connections, whether neural or
in-person.
With this in mind, our director of research, Robin Neidorf, has taken to two wheels to cross Scandinavia with information professionals from around the world in the Cycling for Libraries "unconference" - and she's been keeping us updated with reports from the field.
You don't have to root out your bike to gain insights from FreePint, however, our programme of Content, complemented by Webinars and Community of Practice events gives you the opportunity to do that from your desk.
