Smart information professionals must often feel like Cassandra: blessed with the gift of prophecy and cursed that no one listens.
Successful, thriving businesses require an information-savvy workforce and top-quality information sources. Yet information centres and the professionals who direct them have a difficult time getting decision-makers to pay attention to the looming storm created by shrinking budgets and inattention to skills development.
Join one of our forthcoming Communities of Practice (CoP) sessions on information strategy and risks. It may be one of the most important contributions you can make to the health of your organisation.
Here's what's on offer:
- Driving the Future of Information - FreePint's Research Agenda: a special in-person CoP at the SLA Annual Conference in Boston, 15th June.
We'll discuss the three greatest organisational risks we've identified in recent research, then explore together how we can collectively change internal and industry-wide discussions about the strategic role of information skills in business success.
These sessions are part of our effort to break down and articulate the nature and scope of the risks organisations face by under-investing in information services.
When we reflect on what we learned in Topic Series - like the recently completed Making Information Visible and the current Best Practices in Information Skills Development - we make a point of reflecting on the gaps between organisational objectives (like innovation, growth and efficiency) and the real-world investment in information resources and strategy.
The best part of this process is getting to discuss these insights and real-world applications with information professionals like you. CoPs are open to anyone in an organisation with a FreePint Subscription at the Community or Consulting level, and "tasters" can be arranged if you're considering a subscription or upgrade.

I look forward to including you in our interchange of ideas.
