Although we can accomplish a lot at a distance these days, face-to-face interactions still offer unique and valuable opportunities to connect, communicate and progress relationships.
That's why I'm eagerly anticipating these events:
- Next week, I'll be one of the keynote speakers at the Perfect Information Conference near London. I've attended and spoken at this event for the past several years, and it's one of the warmest, most welcoming and stimulating environments - a great place to re-connect with existing colleagues and develop new relationships. My keynote session highlights our findings about what contributes to making information visible to end users, and I'll also be presenting in a couple of other workshop sessions, one on understanding users and another on the corporate market for ebooks. Read more.
- Then in June, I'm excited to present a pre-conference workshop at the SLA annual conference in Boston. The session is "Teach Beyond Your Reach: A Train-the-Trainer Workshop", and it's part of our Topic Series "Best Practices in Information Skills Development". In this hands-on session, we'll work through what it takes to turn subject matter expertise into effective curricula. Read more.
- Later in 2015 I'm looking forward to participating in Cycling for Libraries - 10 days of biking with other information professionals, making our way from Oslo in Norway to Aarhus in Denmark, while visiting libraries and hearing presentations on innovation in information centres of all kinds. FreePint is proud to be a media partner for this event for the first time, and I'm excited to visit locations (again, that "face-to-face" component...) and learn how we're all contributing to the transformation of our industry.
When you can't participate in person, we do our best to leverage distance tools to bring resources to your desktop. The latest Subscription Update highlights upcoming webinars and Communities of Practice. We do our best to make professional development, new insights and peer-to-peer interactions accessible from wherever you are.
And when you can attend in person, make the most of it. I'm working on a busy schedule of customer, contributor and partner meetings at the above events, and if you'll be at any of them and want to meet, please email me at robin.neidorf@freepint.com. I'd be delighted to discuss whatever is on your mind.
