Editorial
Happy New Year, from all of us at FreePint! We're looking forward to a busy and productive 2015.
Topic Series
We've kicked off the new year with a new Topic Series "Making Information Visible". Running through March 2015, this Topic Series explores the interactions between technology, content and user behaviour that contribute to maximum visibility for quality information.
Be sure to register your interest to get access to free reports, regular updates and editorial commentary and other resources in this Topic Series.
Based on customer input, we've also started planning Topic Series through September:
- Our focus from April - June will be on information skills development (best practices both for you as an information professional and to share with your users). If you're frustrated by the challenge of keeping your users, your staff or yourself up-to-date on the latest tips, tools and resources, this Topic Series will have plenty of answers. And as part of it, I'll be presenting a half-day workshop on distance learning at the SLA annual conference in Boston in June.
- Then from July - September, we'll shift our focus to another hot topic in information strategy: all about usage, from content sharing to data mining. I anticipate it will involve an emphasis on facilitating dialogue between information managers and information vendors: Can we try to get on the same page with regard to what's possible, what's desirable and how to charge appropriately for it?
Beyond the requirements of the Topic Series for each calendar quarter, we're always pursuing other projects to keep our offering comprehensive and relevant. These currently include:
- Original research and commentary on ebooks
- Comparative analysis of company information sources
- Exploration of international copyright requirements
... plus, as always, a diverse list of products and vendors for review and attention to all the Topic Categories in the FreePint universe.
Meanwhile, we're wrapping up the final bits of the last Topic Series, "News, and Beyond" - the most recent Subscription Update highlights such reports as our review of Factiva and the results of our Seventh Annual FreePint Survey on News Needs & Preferences.
