Mastering the Complexities of News Content
Are the user requirements, licence costs, market dynamics and copyright risks of news content in your organisation on your mind? If so, you're not alone:
How to deliver news content efficiently and cost-effectively is the most consistent question I've fielded from customers over the past 15 months. I've spent literally hundreds of hours exploring the complexities of news content in the enterprise with information managers.
We're putting all this experience together for you in the upcoming FreePint Topic Series: News, and Beyond, running from October through December. Last week, I participated in the editorial kick-off call with two insightful analysts, Shimrit Janes and Chris Porter. We shared a wide range of ideas for product reviews, Q&As, how-to, research analyses and more.
Shimrit will be focusing primarily on the ways organisations make news and current awareness visible and valuable to a wide range of workers, whilst Chris will be digging into the research applications of news products, including niche and off-the-beaten-path offerings.
Meanwhile, I get to revisit our Survey on News Needs and Preferences for the seventh year: since 2008, we've surveyed information managers on their organisational priorities, perceptions and challenges around licensing and consuming news content.
We'll be asking key questions throughout the Topic Series about:
- Options for integrating news into the corporate environment
- How to deliver news consistently and securely on mobile devices
- "Good enough" coverage, and managing associated risks
- How to migrate to a new supplier, or become your own supplier
...all through tips articles, case studies, webinars, and Communities of Practice sessions examining Sources, Technology and Value.
The best way to make sure we meet your needs is to register your interest, and add your comments and suggestions when you do so.
In the meantime, the current Topic Series: What You Need to Know Your Customer (KYC) is now underway; register now for updates on the Content, Community and Consulting that will help you make the right decisions around this area of organisational risk.
Upon registration you'll also receive a PDF copy of the report "Know Your Customer - Contain Your Costs" which includes articles on Arachnys, Corporate Affiliations and WordsAnalytics, plus introductory editorial and commentary on work opportunities within the compliance field.
Have suggestions for content not covered in these Topic Series? We want them - there's always room for more good reviews, practical articles and interviews. Submit your suggestions at any time.
