Making Information Skills Central and Strategic

Robin NeidorfSpring emerges in the Northern Hemisphere, and with it fresh ideas for FreePint!

In recent strategy meetings, we've clarified what we feel are the most important gaps in our industry that FreePint uniquely covers:

  • How to make information more discoverable in the enterprise is one of the most common queries I get from subscribers - there's an almost bewildering array of tools, product features and user-focused approaches to guiding workers to the best and most useful information

  • The strategic role of "awareness" information (on company, industry and market news) remains top-of-mind for many information managers. The market upheavals around news content from 2013 may have calmed down, but the questions raised by those changes show no sign of going away

  • Does my organisation need to adopt social enterprise tools? The short answer is "yes" but which ones, how and to what end are open for discussion.

These and similar big ideas reflect FreePint's sharpening focus on making information skills and services both central and strategic. Help us continue to work through these ideas and help them evolve by submitting your suggestions for areas of coverage.

FreePint Testimonials
"The CoP provides a great opportunity to talk, listen and share ideas. It is beneficial to get input from peers. You do pick up feedback from peers but there is real value in getting everyone together to talk about a single subject in depth. It is reassuring to find that the approach you have adopted is in line with some of the best solutions out there. The meeting was just the right size. I liked the format."
