Find out more about how Jinfo plans its research, coverage of vendors, products, and key topics, and how we plan our events.

We are often asked how we decide which topics, vendors and products to cover in the Content and Community that are part of a Jinfo Subscription.

Research is at the heart of everything we do, and we focus our research in two ways:

  • The three core areas of responsibility we serve (content purchasing, information strategy, and optimising an information service)
  • The Research Focus are topic-driven projects which we run every quarter.

These form the bedrock of our research and planning and then turn into Content and Community, which comprise the Jinfo Subscription.

At the start of each quarter, we kick off our active research phase for Content and Community to be produced in the next quarter, with an aim to run our events in the quarter after that. For example, in July 2019, we're working on research to support content publication from October through December, culminating in webinars and Community sessions in January - March 2020.

In this research phase, we gather and analyse information from a variety of sources, including:

  • Jinfo's original research - covering the four Research Focus projects and the three roles we support
  • Client consulting engagements
  • Customer suggestions
  • Conferences and events
  • Market scanning.

We carry out our own original research a minimum of four times a year to sit with each Research Focus project and typically also carry out ad hoc research at least an additional two times a year, such as our upcoming research into discovery systems, and into legal purchasing preferences and trends.

Customer suggestions are extremely important to us at Jinfo and we welcome any suggestions or queries you may have about our published content and events, as well as your suggestions for coverage.

These suggestions are acknowledged within a day or two. If we are able to give a quick answer to the query - such as pointing you to upcoming events which will tackle your topic of interest, or published content which will help guide you - we will do so. If your query is to do with a topic or product not currently on our agenda, then we will discuss it at our six-weekly planning meeting and review whether it's appropriate for us to cover, when and how, and will then get back to you to let you know.

To contact us with your suggestions, please use the contact form, or our interactive chat "Ask Jinfo" which you can find at the bottom of every Jinfo webpage.

If you'd like more information about the benefits of a Jinfo Subscription, or taster access to resources, please contact Claire Laybats, head of commercial development.
