Abstract
The use of ebooks and elearning is fast-evolving and keeping pace is the need for the information centre to work more closely with sister departments, such as HR. We look at recent Jinfo articles and reports on the subject.
Item
The global ebook market is growing, with particularly deep penetration in the US. China and Japan follow closely behind, with the UK and Germany also featuring in the top five countries by revenue according to 2016 Statista research (PDF).
This echoes Jinfo's 2015 research into corporate use of ebooks when we observed "overall penetration of ebooks in enterprise settings is now approaching 80%... with a strong appetite for this growth to continue over the next two years".
As Lynn Strand points out in her recent Jinfo article looking at the market, "Over the past few years, corporations have jumped into the elearning and ebook world with both feet." She looks at the benefits and challenges of elearning, the role of "gamification" and provides tips on how best to engage end-users.
Partnering for success
Lynn recommends partnering with HR for greatest success and best integration of information literacy and research skills training.
Our recently completed Insights & Actions report from the Research Focus "Developing an information-savvy workforce through strategic alignments" provides a useful overview of the editorial and research from the Focus along with three key insights from our director of research, Robin Neidorf.
In fact, one of those insights is that "strategic and sustainable improvements in workforce information skills require alignment with HR". Request your free copy of the report "Developing an information-savvy workforce through strategic alignments" today.
