Originally launched more than 20 years ago under the name ISI Emerging Markets, EMIS continues to evolve and EMIS Professional is a leader for those interested in researching emerging markets, as Andrew Lucas explains in our recent in-depth review.

EMIS Professional is an emerging markets business intelligence information service.

Well-established, it provides news, research, and company and financial data about emerging markets in Asia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The service may have  launched 20 years ago (as ISI Emerging Markets) but in that time it has not stood still. Far from it in fact, because EMIS Professional can successfully compete against the likes of Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters Eikon by doing what it does best - being different by choosing to focus solely on emerging markets.

Not surprising then that in Jinfo's recent "Product review of EMIS Professional" (Subscriber content), our researcher, Andrew Lucas, notes that "for emerging markets [EMIS Professional] provides a very strong package of content and tools".

A strong contender

The product has seen "major makeovers" since 2013 in terms of user interface and the platform itself. Andrew notes this ability to evolve makes EMIS a strong contender in the emerging markets arena.

"Future developments are likely to focus on greater personalisation and further improvements to the user experience," he writes.

Andrew highlights reasons why EMIS Professional offers value for developed and emerging market users alike and how the product is used to access key information from both local markets and international sources.

The review considers some of the recent improvements to EMIS Professional's structure around Companies, Industries and Countries, which has improved the navigation. Also put to the test is the new user interface design.
