When it comes to managing my team and blogging about library and tech issues, I like to stay on top of the trends that are shaping the legal research industry. When it comes to resources, I prefer actual testing to mere opinion. As to industry issues, I look to hear from the folks down in the trenches.
- LawSites: Robert Ambrogi is truly a guru when it comes to legal technology. Whether it is websites or gadgets, it seems that the vendors turn to him first for their big unveils. Ambrogi, in turn, is no slouch when it comes to putting those tools through their paces! His reviews are substantive, practical, and usually full of great visuals and examples.
- Dewey B Strategic: Library director Jean O'Grady has a passion for knowledge strategy and a knack for cutting to the very heart of an issue. From product reviews to hard-hitting takes on major issues in the industry, she is always timely and on point. I cannot begin to recount the number of times the Dewey B blog has simply made me stop, think, and then look at things in our industry from a fresh perspective.
- LLRX: Where to begin in discussing my appreciation for this site? LLRX has been one of my favourites since its debut. This year will mark 20 years that Sabrina Pacifici has been producing and collecting some of the very best content in the industry. News, reviews, resources, LLRX has it all and has it well organised. The feed alone is worth its weight in treatises. The searchable database of past content is a goldmine as well!
- TILT: OK, I must admit to a bit of a shameless plug here. TILT is my own brainchild and a real labour of law-library-love. Originally launched as iBraryGuy.com, this blog has been expanded to include more material and more articles. TILT is dedicated to keeping readers apprised of new and emerging legal technology and the resources and the issues that are shaping the future of our industry. We are ramping up to make 2016 our most ambitious year of coverage yet.
An article in FreePint I found particularly interesting:
- Back in October 2014, James Mullan wrote the excellent, "The Rise of Mobile Devices for Legal Research". Mobile technology, though hardly new, was really first beginning to pick up steam in the law firm world at that time. The considerations James presented both helped inform my own approach to this area at my firm and served as a catalyst for a collection of reviews on mobile apps that I would go on to write for FreePint.
