Subscription Update for Government

Abstract
FreePint understands that customers in government agencies must adhere closely to process, value documentation and structure. We highlight recent items of interest to this market sector from FreePint's Content, Community and Consulting.
Item
Content (Articles, Reports and Webinars)
Information managers in government agencies must work within a reporting framework that often requires closer adherence to process than their peers in other industries. That's why content focused on process, value documentation and structure will be most useful to these information managers.
Some of our recent content to fit the bill includes:
- Eight Steps to Good Management for Visible Information
- Presenting Research Results
- Making Internal Information Visible through Enterprise Content Management.
These are all part of the current Topic Series, "Making Information Visible"; registering for the series keeps you informed about everything we're producing within it, including upcoming webinars:
Several information managers at government agencies have also expressed enthusiasm about a future webinar: Improving Your Connection, Communication and Collaboration with IT (May 2015). This is one that anyone longing for a better relationship with the IT department will want to attend.
Depending on the focus of an agency, research needs can cover the full gamut of industries and requirements. Our recent product reviews include D&B Hoover's, BBC Monitoring Library, Factiva, and Nexis, all of which are frequently implemented by information managers in government agencies.
Finally, staying on top of what's changing in your preferred aggregator is easier with our Source Updates, which appear monthly.
Community
We hosted a Communities of Practice teleconference session for information managers in government agencies in February 2015. You can read more about the focus of and outcomes from the call - including discussion of bureaucracy, organisational silos and budget management. Another session for information managers in government agencies is planned for later in 2015.
In the meantime, many have already registered for the limited seats available in the CoP teleconference session, "Needs Assessment for Information Visibility" (March 2015).
Consulting
A new customer in the government sector has asked FreePint for help with stakeholder mapping and communications strategy. Given the bureaucratic nature of government agencies, it's essential for information managers to have a clear message, a strong understanding of decision-makers and their perspectives, and a regular calendar of "touchpoints" through which to engage with stakeholders.
We'll be working with this team over the next few months to help them organise what they already know about stakeholders so that they can clarify messaging and create that calendar. The overall goal is to help stakeholders see information services as a strategic asset within the agency, rather than simply the place where research questions get answered.
A FreePint Subscription at the Content level gives access to all FreePint articles, reports and webinars, at the Community level gives access to all FreePint Communities of Practice (as well as all FreePint Content), and at the Consulting level adds a credit for up to six hours of annual consulting time.
