The company defines itself as content neutral, meaning it will integrate any electronic content to provide organisations with a custom search and content delivery system that makes the most of their information assets.
Item
In nearly every article written for information professionals there is a central theme: the need to deliver relevant content quickly to end users in a meaningful manner. This post discusses the InfoDesk approach to meeting that need.
InfoDesk is a content integration and information management solution company founded in 1999. The company services Fortune 1000 clients and other large enterprises including the US Senate. Their products are used by global entities in the financial, pharmaceutical and government sectors.
Content Neutrality
The company has created a robust content management and publication system for enterprise content delivery and sharing that maximises the use of an organisation's information assets. Through developed partner relationships and a commitment to content neutrality, InfoDesk offers a unique opportunity for companies to create a federated search and content awareness delivery service that utilises internal and external resources.
InfoViewer builds custom queries to deliver real-time content through portals and search widgets in custom designed formats. Users receive relevant, timely content in what InfoDesk COO Lynn Epstein describes as content which users want "the way they want it."
Pushing Content to Users
Keeping with the theme of delivering relevant content to users the way they want it, InfoDesk has also developed two highly customised solutions that push content to users automatically.
The first, InfoWatch, is essentially a custom newsletter service. Using the abilities of InfoViewer to search, retrieve, and share content, customers will receive delivery of on-point current awareness information. The service can reside on an intranet or portal and has the look and feel of the company with their colours, logos and other branding components.
The second service is a personalised email service called InfoAlert. Think Google Alerts on steroids. This service utilises the information assets integrated through InfoDesk services and allows the creation of alerts based upon custom queries across commercial databases, open web sources, and social media content. The alerts are delivered on the preferred schedule of the recipient and the content can easily be shared with colleagues.
InfoMonitor combines the power of InfoViewer and the skills of InfoDesk professional to create custom intelligence briefings. The briefings contain executive summaries to inform decision-makers quickly of important news and events.
Custom Curation
Each of the InfoDesk products and services integrates an organisation's own information assets and complements it with other electronic resources to provide a powerful dataset.
The filters, queries and custom curation which are used to take the best of the best out of the dataset for each defined need give credence to InfoDesk's claim of delivering relevant content to users when and how they need it.
