Abstract
Find out what's new and upcoming in FreePint's Content, Community, and Consulting - including reviews, Q&As and source updates, plus webinars on subjects from our changing need for news to getting the C-suite's attention, and an update on FreePint's Community of Practice and consulting services.
Item
Content (Articles, Reports and Webinars)
If you want to know what our industry's vendors are up to, FreePint's the place to look. Recent content includes:
- Source updates for Factiva, Nexis and EBSCO
- Commentary about Swets' bankruptcy
- Q&As with Northern Light and Adis
- Mini review of Owler
- Initial chapter of a full review of NewsEdge.com and several chapters (including this one on technology) on InfoDesk
- Full review of NetProspex Workbench.
A focus for our vendor coverage in the next few months will be suppliers of news content, as part of the FreePint Topic Series: News, and Beyond. Register (free) and receive updates when new resources are added to the series.
Our research usually looks at multiple geographies and industries at once, but we've recently published an in-depth view of purchasing preferences and needs amongst UK law firms. If you're in the field, this is must-read coverage; even information managers in other fields or geographic regions can learn a lot from what UK law librarians describe as their economic reality.
It's never easy to make time for professional development, so FreePint Webinars give you value without requiring you to leave your desk. Upcoming sessions include:
- Can You Outsource KYC?
- Technology to Support Business Strategy
- Is Our Need for News What It Used to Be?
- Convincing the C-Suite... and Getting Their Attention in the First Place
Access to all FreePint Webinars are included in your FreePint Subscription.
Community
As efficient as it can be to learn from the desktop, there's a lot of value in making the effort to attend a face-to-face workshop as well. FreePint offers Communities of Practice in both in-person and teleconference formats, and we're currently offering a slew of in-person events in Chicago, London and Amsterdam.
You also have a chance to participate in two unique sessions in New York City on 10th November:
The first is part of the FreePint Topic Series: News, and Beyond, and the second is one of our highly regarded sessions for both buyers and sellers of content products to come together to discuss critical issues in a confidential environment.
If the value of news is on your mind but you can't make it to the Big Apple, you can register to participate in any or all of three teleconference CoPs:
- Right Suppliers, Right Needs
- Current Awareness Options and Value Proposition
- In-Depth Research Options and Value Proposition.
Consulting
If we seem slightly obsessed with news content at the moment, it's because our customers are, too. The most recent consulting project to kick off at FreePint is an in-depth review of one customer's internal policy paper, outlining their options and the information centre's recommendations for news services for 2015 and beyond.
This project only takes a couple of hours, and the customer gets unbiased, research-based feedback to validate and provide additional perspective around the results their internal work on determining their best options for news content, for both research purposes and general current awareness.
Editor's Note
Find out more about a FreePint Subscription, which at the Content level gives access to all FreePint articles, reports and webinars, at the Community level gives access to all FreePint Communities of Practice (as well as all FreePint Content), and at the Consulting level adds a credit for up to six hours of annual consulting time.
