Content (Articles, Reports and Webinars)

There's no doubt that the way people interact with information is worlds different today than it was even five years ago. Several of contributor James Mullan's recent articles look at different aspects of these changes and how they seep into corporate information work, making essential reading when considering the value of your own information services:

If "value" is on your mind, then the recording of the FreePint Webinar "Strategic View on Value and Collection Management" is worth a look. Recorded during the live session earlier in June, this session covers four components of value, four themes of value and provides a number of tools to help you apply these concepts to your own environment. You can read more about all FreePint Webinars available for viewing, and then request access (free) for the ones you want to view.

An in-depth review of Corporate Affiliations from LexisNexis, picks up on the trends among vendors to connect company information with business-oriented news and events. Who has moved jobs? Which companies are engaged in partnerships? What M&A activity might offer new opportunities? Our reviewer particularly liked the ease of use and the depth of the database of companies covered.

Other reviews recently published include Precise MediaPlatform+, the latest in our coverage of social media monitoring tools (introductory chapter here) and in the process of being published Comintelli Knowledge XChanger (introductory chapter here).

We've placed additional attention on the pharma industry lately through a couple of projects:

This benchmarking research will next be expanded to other industries, so please watch for your invitation to participate. And if you would like a more interactive discussion of the results, consider registering for the upcoming FreePint Webinar "Information Visibility Study by Sector" (check the FreePint on Eventbrite page for more information and to register).

Community

FreePint's set of three Communities of Practice teleconferences on measuring value is ongoing through July, with the first session covering identification of stakeholders run in June. The full list of sessions and options can be found on the FreePint on Eventbrite page.

The in-person CoP on the same topic, already run successfully in London, is coming to New York and Boston in August. An Amsterdam date in September is soon to be confirmed.

CoPs focusing on information visibility and discovery will be run by sector in the coming months, with the next sessions examining the manufacturing sector, followed by consulting. The research preceding these sessions will flesh out our understanding of how different industries address similar challenges, and the project overall is part of the foundation for the future FreePint Topic Series: Making Information Visible.

Consulting

A summer intern is helping one of our customers move a project forward, and FreePint is helping the intern with coaching and research design. Using only a handful of consulting hours, FreePint is able to provide on-the-job training and guidance for a freshly-minted graduate for a project requiring an internal survey of end users of different information products.

It's an honour to be trusted with this kind of professional development. How can we help in your organisation?
