As legal information manager with an employer in the mornings and being self-employed in the afternoons, I have an interestingly varied day. I work with lawyers in almost all practice areas and offer the usual services in Law Library provision. The one resource which I have come to value above all is the kind indulgence of my fellow information professionals.

  • IPKat: For any law firm with an intellectual property practice, Jeremy Phillips' blog IPKat is essential. It has spawned kittens in the specialist areas: patents, trademarks, media and IT, design and trade secrets. These are maintained by enthusiastic Jeremy fans/lawyers and are always current.

  • Drapers: Fox Williams has an outstanding reputation in fashion law and the essential resource is Drapers. It provides immediate news of all the happenings in the fashion industry.

  • Business of Fashion: Also in fashion and gaining a tremendous reputation is Business of Fashion. In a very short time, the editor Imran Amed has made this one of the most important sources of current fashion news.

  • Dezeen: On a personal note - the blog which I find of daily interest is Dezeen. Essential for anyone in the design world. It mainly covers architecture but also highlights new technological advances in materials - digital contact lens, 3D printing etc.

An article in FreePint which I found particularly interesting:

I have been a fan of FreePint forever and always find the articles relevant and interesting. I particularly like those written by James Mullen who addresses current technical issues succinctly with an enviable ease. One such article "Social Media Sources: Misinformation or Goldmine?" on how can researchers and information professionals determine what the truth is in the social media sphere was particularly apposite for an in-house seminar on this topic. I was able to make several positive contributions.
