Abstract
Yulia Aspinall examines PharmaCircle, an online resource for professionals in the biopharmaceutical industry, and explains why it stands out for those seeking a drug delivery (DD) and formulation repository.
Item
If you happen to be interested in drug delivery (DD) and formulation information, then there's one resource that should definitely be high on your "Go-To" list.
Reducing Analytical Workload
PharmaCircle not only contains encyclopaedic drug delivery and formulation information, but also detailed reviews and compare & contrast tables, and hence reducing analytical workload.
The comprehensive DD reports (or expert reviews) contain in-depth analyses of drug delivery technologies, with commentaries that include extracts and examples from related patents.
Formulations & Technology Comparisons
The company claims to provide the best possible descriptions of formulations and processing/manufacturing methods involved, in addition to results from in vivo and in vitro experiments. Where available, deals related to technologies are also included.
To help with analysis, many reviews also provide opinions on the novelty of the technologies in relation to the others in the same area.
A particularly useful aspect is the provision of tables to compare and contrast technologies (48 customisable "compare and contrast" tables are provided). These contain excipient details in addition to drug delivery device and analytical testing information.
Offering Difficult-to-Find Drug Delivery Details
An important feature is the ability to "drill down" from the drug delivery module to extended information located in the related module, covering areas such as company, deals, regulatory and clinical.
As many pharma information specialists will know, information about drug delivery is important for any drug - especially for those in development - and is not only highly specific, but often difficult to find.
However, since the method of drug delivery can be one of the main differentiators for new drugs, accurate and detailed information is vital. Innovative formulations and technologies also allow better patient compliance, for example insulin injections, nasal drops for flu vaccines and long-duration injectable contraceptive depots.
Global Coverage
PharmaCircle includes 40 integrated databases (modules) providing information and analysis on all aspects of the research-based and generic biopharmaceutical business with global coverage of research, development, regulatory, clinical, and business activities.
But for those seeking a DD and formulation repository, PharmaCircle's offering certainly stands out.
