Abstract
With the FreePint Topic Series: Compliance in Context now well underway, series producer Andrew Lucas highlights key articles and product reviews published recently where workflow and product design & innovation were particularly under scrutiny - in articles about strategy at Thomson Reuters, the company's Compliance Complete product and an overview of compliance tools. Measuring ROI and AML screening are also under the spotlight.

The FreePint Topic Series: Compliance in Context continues to explore some of the key themes in the compliance market, focusing in particular on the importance of workflow and some of the practical considerations in product design. Last week, in her feature Talking with Vendors about Compliance, Robin Neidorf discussed why workflow, important to so many information products, is particularly crucial to due diligence and compliance products.
Identifying the Right Tool for Your Needs
Chris Porter’s handy guide to the principal vendors, Compliance Product Vendor Map: Who Does What in the Regulatory Space, looked at how the vendors’ products and services address different needs within the compliance workflow. Chris suggests that users may want to review their current due diligence solution and consider which of the vendors might provide the most appropriate service. This topic will also be considered in more depth later in the series when we look at how you choose the right regulatory compliance tool.
Investing in Innovation to Develop a GRC Business
We also heard from Andrew Neblett, who leads the global Enterprise Risk Management business segment of the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) business of Thomson Reuters, about some of the key influences on their product development. Andrew also talks about the importance of data quality and what should be factored into measuring the ROI on compliance products. Read the Q&A with Thomson Reuters: Developing a Connected Approach to GRC and FreePint's in-depth review of Thomson Reuters Compliance Complete.
Measuring ROI and Managing Risk
The ROI theme is explored further in Penny Crossland's article on Defining & Measuring the ROI in Compliance Tools. Penny provides some practical quantitative and qualitative measures for determining ROI.
We'll also have an article by industry expert Victoria Meyer on Supporting the AML Compliance Screening Process, which looks in detail at the key requirements for an effective Anti-Money Laundering screening system.
