FreePint Buyer's Guide, When you're in the Market for Content
Jinfo Blog

Abstract
Identifying and researching relevant information products and vendors can be a time-consuming process. FreePint's Buyer's Guide listings provide intelligence across 22 categories, ranging from collaborative tools to compliance, STM and visualisation. Developing the listings is an ongoing process which also complements other FreePint initiatives such as the upcoming FreePint Topic Series: Compliance in Context.
Item
The FreePint Buyer's Guide is a free online directory of vendors and products in the information space.
We created it in part because our own research around companies of interest and products we cover - or may want to review - required us to keep track of what's available, organised by category.
Over the past few weeks, our research has helped us build out the category of "compliance tools" - products and services that help you maintain compliance with financial regulations. This work has been in conjunction with and in support of the upcoming FreePint Topic Series: Compliance in Context, which launches in September 2013 and will feature many of the products we've newly uncovered in this crowded market and have documented in the Buyer's Guide.
Recent additions have included:
- A full product suite from World Compliance
- A full product suite from RDC
- Several products from BankersAccuity
What You'll Find in a Buyer's Guide Category
Like every category in the Buyer's Guide, the compliance category offers a browsable list of products we've identified which fit that category.
At the top of the category page, you'll find "Featured Products". Vendors can choose to upgrade their listings from "basic" to "enhanced" to be featured at the top of the page like this. They often do so as part of a sponsorship package. (Vendors like Bureau van Dijk, Alacra and Perfect Information, who are sponsoring the FreePint Topic Series: Compliance in Context, enjoy featured placement as part of their sponsorship.)
Below the Featured Products are the remainder of the basic listings for the category, in alphabetical order. We research these listings ourselves and post them at no cost to the vendor, and we encourage the vendor to review and update any factual errors in the basic listing.
What You'll Find in a Product Listing
The figure below shows the product listing for Alacra Compliance. This is an enhanced listing, which means the vendor provided the text and links in the main body of the listing, which our researchers have checked for accuracy.
You'll find the Buyer's Guide categories with which this listing is tagged, along with a link back to the vendor information page.
Additionally, any FreePint Feature articles or Subscription articles that mention this product are linked directly to the listing.
Building out the Buyer's Guide
The FreePint Buyer's Guide is always a work-in-progress. We do not expect that we will ever create a fully definitive and comprehensive listing, as new products enter the market all the time.
We regularly update and resubmit listings to vendors for fact-checking, and whenever we learn about a relevant product, we create a basic listing.
