Experiences in FreePint Engagement
Jinfo Blog

Abstract
FreePint's Communities of Practice (CoP) offer a convenient and compelling way for FreePint Subscribers to share information openly with colleagues and to discuss their challenges and experiences around topics such as mobile deployment in the enterprise. Joining a CoP allows Subscribers to communicate with their peers around the world to discuss global issues in information management and strategy. Robin Neidorf introduces the new FreePint CoP: news aggregation.

Live events enable us to sit down face to face to build and cement professional relationships. The past month has offered a bonanza of in-person opportunities:
- Perfect Information Conference near London, in May: I presented a session on mobile content deployment in the enterprise, based on our research over the past three years. Participants were so eager to discuss the ideas that the organisers squeezed in an additional session on the first afternoon of the event.
- SLA Annual Conference in San Diego, in June: read more about the news, announcements, and impressions of the event, including a highly engaged breakfast meeting I led on big data.
- SIIA Investment Conference in New York, in June: growing a publishing company isn't easy, but interaction with FreePint's peers provided a lot of fresh ideas about new opportunities and ways to address challenges.
Increasingly, however, we need to increase engagement even when we don't have the opportunity to share coffee and chat. That's one of the reasons I've been so pleased with the development of FreePint Communities of Practice (CoP). I run our CoP on Mobile Deployment in the Enterprise, and I love being able to consolidate and present research to a small group of people and get their immediate feedback. We sometimes make transcriptions of CoP calls available as articles - check out the most recent, on vendor "chaos" in mobile content delivery.
All the feedback, questions and comments I've heard over the last few months tell me that there's interest in learning about options for media monitoring and news aggregation.
So, for customers with a FreePint Subscription at the Team level and higher, I am hosting some confidential Community of Practice conference calls to share research on aggregators and monitoring, and discuss the variables that affect purchase and usage choices. Read more about this Subscriber-only benefit here.
My first invitations to participate quickly resulted in full registration, so I added a second call... which is also already full. Clearly the topic has struck a nerve.
What hits your nerve? What topics would compel you to engage more closely with your peers, with vendors and with FreePint? Email me at robin.neidorf@freepint.com with your suggestions.
