If you need in-depth current or historical company information, Private Company Data from Perfect Information could be what you’re looking for.
A comprehensive database, PI PCD sources its data from Companies House and Experian. This means you get a combination of unanalysed original documents and analysed reports which combine to provide the tools needed for some serious research. The product is easy to navigate and very fast to search. Help is provided though probably not needed.
Content includes original scanned documents such as Annual Returns, Incorporation Certificates, Memoranda and Articles of Association as well as pre-defined document packages for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Mortgages and Liquidations. Although access to the database provides online coverage for UK and Republic of Ireland companies only, it’s possible to link through to price lists and order forms for international filings and AML packages from more than 60 counties. Collectively, this provides access to 15 million company filings and financial documents from over 50,000 companies.
Searching is simplicity itself. The options are Company Name, Company Number or Director. That’s it really. Although this is an easy to use interface, with no option for advanced searching, this doesn’t seem to matter as search is powerful and responsive. I got the distinct impression that it was deliberately designed to work this way. This is a product devoid of fluff which does exactly what it’s supposed to do. There are many products around which appear to offer a lot features to enhance their core capabilities; this isn’t one of them.
Some of the key features include sets of original company documents collected together into ‘packages’. These are essentially filed images of documents which cover specific themes such as:
- Anti-Money Laundering: providing documents of Certificate of Incorporation, the latest Memorandum and Articles of Association, any name changes since incorporation, latest Annual Return, any director changes since the latest Annual Return, and any shareholder changes since the latest Annual Return.
- Liquidations and Insolvency: all insolvency related documents.
- All Mortgages: all mortgage related documents.
These are real time savers as they comprise the most popular and requested documents. So rather than search for the same document images for different companies over and over again, they are collected together for all companies in advance. If that’s not enough, users can also quickly and easily create their own document packages.
Other useful features include detailed company structure trees, complete company reports available in sections and handy company summaries displaying core company information. All data is available to be printed out or exported as pdfs and there’s a couple of very useful guides: one covering the company and director documents and the other covering the reports.
This is a very slick and streamlined product, easy to use and fast to search. I learned some very interesting things about some well known companies I never knew before!
