One of the great things about reviewing databases and information products for FreePint and VIP Magazine is that I am constantly being introduced to new industries and methods of information usage and discovery. In my latest review on Cicero’s NovaRes, I have been introduced to the mysterious world of public policy, a world heretofore hidden from me beneath a veil of interest groups, government diplomacy, international intelligentsia and global espionage. Perhaps I’ve seen too many political intrigue type movies, but I see Edward Norton playing Prime Minister David Cameron – there is a striking resemblance.
Yet after reviewing NovaRes extensively, I can’t brag that I know my Basel III’s from my Capital Requirement’s Directive, but I do know where to direct folks if they are in need of an expansive portal providing public policy and regulatory detail for the financial services industry.
NovaRes not only targets a distinctive niche within the larger public policy domain, but also stands out by providing real-time monitoring of key events. This is important for the portal’s clientele in three ways: first, it saves them from having to attend or tune-in to the event; second, the real-time aspect satisfies the need for immediate data that is quite important in public policy; and third, having a real person actually capturing the information ensures that no detail will be lost in translation, so to speak.
Another important feature is the detailed alerting to current and future policy events, which, considering the breadth of organisations and geographies that are covered by NovaRes, occur at a regular pace.
Which is a great lead-in to the portal’s coverage. NovaRes provides detailed financial service public policy coverage of the European Union and the UK, covering over 47 and 46 topics of interest, respectively, for these regions. Cicero is also on target to expand NovaRes coverage of the US and the Asia regions. As a matter of fact, Cicero Group has recently opened offices in both Washington DC and Singapore.
So if your duties include monitoring the constant tide of changes, additions and fluctuations in the worldwide policies and regulations effecting the financial services realm, look no further then NovaRes, your friendly public policy database and portal.
