The March edition of VIP Magazine (No. 76) includes a review of Experian plcâs UK business credit reporting service, e-Series business. UK-based Experian plc is one of the worldâs largest credit information services providers, and has offered credit and risk reporting services to businesses since the 1980s. Credit information is a mature market space, with only a handful of companies (Experian, Equifax and D&B) holding most of the global market share. e-Series business is Experianâs platform for UK company information. It covers UK limited and non-limited companies (about 5 million entities in total), and also houses information on over 3 million individuals. Experianâs flagship product, The Risk Report, provides readers with an overview on a on a businessâs creditworthiness. The Risk Report features Experianâs proprietary scorecard, the Commercial Delphi Score, which predicts a businessâs likelihood of failure in the next twelve months. Experian also provides visibility to much of the data (financial records, court filings, payments data, and more) that inform their credit opinions. The Risk Report includes industrial norms, so that users can consider creditworthiness in consideration of a businessâs peers. e-Series business is primary used in lending institutions (banks, retail finance companies, and automobile finance units), insurance companies, and manufacturers and wholesalers â businesses that need to determine the risk of potential customers. However, corporate and legal librarians that conduct research on private companies would find the tool extremely useful.
