The first draft of VIP's comparative review of news offerings from Dow Jones Factiva and LexisNexis is complete, and 'comprehensive' doesn't begin to describe it! Subscribers can look forward to receiving this report in November 2009, comparing the two products side-by-side for features, functions, sources and other variables.
We're also publishing the results of our user survey on news needs and preferences. Among the key results to date:
- Direct cost is still a primary driver for most purchasers, followed by ease of use for end users
- More than 76% of respondents subscribe to at least one premium (paid) resource for news
- 52% of respondents state that their use of free resources for news increased in the past year, and 59% say that they expect free resources to become more important next year.
In addition, the survey provides insight into how respondents view the two products under review.
The survey will close on Friday, 6 November, but you can still participate until then.
Subscribers will also receive the full report on survey results.
