For those researchers who do not always have access to a business library or information service in house, the services provided by the national and major city collections are critical. In London the British Library continues to find new ways of ensuring that its users get the best out of its outstanding collections. In recognition of researchers difficulties in finding their way to what the Library offers, its website has been redesigned and has easier navigation. Content remains much as it was before although the social sciences pages have been enhanced. The major changes have been in the way users can search or browse the site: these include by subject; by time period; by region; by language; by resource type; and, by Library department. The Library staff have recognised that it can be difficult to find material just using the catalogues, and so this redesign is to be welcomed. The Library has produced an online guide to help researchers find their way around: you can try it for yourself by following this link: http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/index.html.About this article
