There is a wide range of news filtering services in the market, so what is it about the new product from BNA that differentiates itself from the others? Called BNAConvergence http://www.bna.com/convergence and powered by Llesiant technology http://www.llesiant.com, the vendor claims that the use of proprietary taxonomies and precise filters delivers more focused news, from which the user can create relevant reports. The service will, according to the press release, expand BNAâs capabilities to allow it to handle competitive intelligence, client development and media management information. Additionally, the taxonomy will let users find content by topic, industry, practice area, location, company name or other criteria. Search results can be organised by relevance, with the user selecting the relevance threshold and adjusting it as necessary. The unique feature of this service, compared to other filtering services, appears to be the ability to search in detail across all BNA Current Reports, to which a subscriber has access, as well as across over 20,000 news sources. These additional sources include US and international newspapers, business journals, global news bureaux, blogs and government agencies. Another new service, which BNA offers clients to complement BNAConvergence, is BNACompanyDash http://www.bna.com/companydash. This product gives subscribers the ability to create âdashboardsâ, in order to view company information in an easy-to-understand format. These will be used to: · Monitor what the media are saying about the subscriberâs company · Keep up to date on competitors · Track clients · Monitor US government agencies · Check SEC filings · Spot industry trends. BNA is a publisher of print and electronic news and reference products aimed at the professional market. Its clients typically work in business, finance, the law, lobbying, policy groups, compliance, or government. Its areas of particular expertise include corporate law and business, employee benefits, employment and labour law, litigation, and tax and accounting. The new product is aimed at professionals in particular niches: namely, legal, business development, reputation management and competitive intelligence.About this article
