ICIS http://www.icis.com is a commodity market information company owned by Reed Business Information http://www.rbi.co.uk/, which is currently up for sale by its parent company, Reed Elsevier http://www.reed-elsevier.com/. It has recently acquired Heren Energy Ltd www.heren.com, a European gas, power, and carbon market information provider. As a result of the acquisition ICIS will achieve greater geographic coverage of international energy markets. Heren will get additional sales for its products through ICISâs global network. ICIS Publishing Director Christopher Flook said that the acquisition âextend(s) our footprint outside of petrochemicals and into other energy markets. There are strong synergies between ICIS and Heren, driven by Heren's first mover advantage in this market and strong reputation and the ICIS core competencies of price reporting, online content delivery and web marketing." http://www.icis.com/Articles/2008/03/04/9105414/icis-acquires-heren-energy-ltd.html. Heren was advised by van Tulleken, international corporate finance advisers in media, information and technology. The terms of the deals were not disclosed. http://www.vantulleken.com/newsitem51.aspx Utilities prices are very high at the moment and Europe is following the UK example of liberalizing its energy markets. The new ICIS/Heren company is positioned to take advantage of the growing need for information to support these markets.About this article
