No matter how much training and experience an information professional has, luck often plays an important part in tracking down the precise information required. Whether it's through a chance meeting, a phone call or even a misspelt search term, those gold nuggets of vital information can make all the difference as Lorene Kennard's examples show.

No matter how much training and experience an information professional has, luck often plays an important part in tracking down the precise information required. Whether it's through a chance meeting, a phone call or even a misspelt search term, those gold nuggets of vital information can make all the difference as Lorene Kennard's examples show.
What's Inside:
We have training, research skills and experience, but serendipity never hurts. Every time we take on a research project, we use our experience and training to determine which resources contain the information we are looking for. Sometimes, when we are searching for one type of information, we come across a gold mine of data that we were not even looking for but which can be useful in our current or ongoing projects.
